Royal palace of town is getting ready to look like a street joint to serve its people. Oh Yes.. !! Hotel Citrus, The Leela, is grooming for its Street food festival happening from Sept 1-11,2016. It was real excitement to be a part of the Tasting invite.
The Street food fest, by Hotel Citrus, The Leela Palace, with the special and everyone’s favorite street food is hand-picked up from the entire length and breadth of India , is getting ready with all the look and feel of small roadside shops, with the local look of Telas along the street along with their real the essence.
No matter how much comfort and royalty fine dining gives, the comfort of standing along the roadside and attacking Ek Chatpata Desi chaat, and the phrase “Ek aur plate Bhayya” can never be replaced and make us feel more hungry for the taste of chats. So I was so exited to taste the menu.
After a real warm welcome,
Event started with the Chef tasting menu details and here goes the Best Welcome (Street) refreshing drinks Nice tasty yummy Rose Lassi (North) with a nice malai on it and relaxing Tender Coconut Water ( South).
South India’s most favourite Savouries like Nippattu, Achappam, Seedai, Murukku, Nendra Pazam chips ( Banana Chips ) and the best forever Gujarati Street food Dhokla were on the table. Murukku, Chips and Dhokhla were heavenly. Butter Murukku was just melting and Dhokla was just out of world.
Then the Chef interacted with concept of the Street Food festival which is going to be held from 1st of September till 11th of September only for Dinner in The Hotel Citrus, The Leela Palace, Old Airport Road.
Started with the chats Palak Paan chat, Dal Kachodi and a Chicken chat- Murgh ki chat. I loved the Palak Pan chat specially for its Crisp fry and light on stomach and tasty on my buds made me just a simple Woowww..!!
From Namma South India, here we go with Tamilnadu’s very own Vegeterian Kothu Parota and Chicken Kothu Parota and Bheja with Egg Dosa and Aalu Masala Dosa.
Then From the Fryer comes here crispy and tasty Goli Bajji, Madduru Vade, Jheenga ( Prawns) Koliwada and Nethili (Fish)Fry. Goli bajji became my favorite for its well fried aroma and texture and its combination Coconut chutney.
Aur Hamari Sigri Se:
Beef Phal, Quail Roast, Pathar Gosht, Paneer Shashlik ( my personal choice). Panneer shashlik is. I can say, the dish of the day, for its softness, its marination, and look..!! Absolutely delightful feast to eyes as well as for buds.
Along with Chats here goes the Main Course:
Idiyappam with Poya Korma, Keema Baida Roti, and Namma Thatte idly. I loved Idiyappam and sambar combination personally.
The Dessert Station serves Jalebi with Hot Badam Milk and the very famous Rajastani Kulfis. Generally Jalebi is served with Rabdi, after a point, ” enough now” factor dominates. But Badam milk with Jalebi made the combination light and it ends us up eating “Ek aur”. The point i loved in here is Stone plates which made anyone feel earthy and Desi..!!
None of the South Indians start or finish any discussion without a strong Filter coffee. Hence here goes Kumbakonam Filter coffee.
The Street food Fest is going to give real Feast of Indian Streets to Namma Bengulureans, and this “Chatpata” Street food fest is on only for Dinner, for the first Eleven days ( 1st -11th) of the month of this September with much more varieties from all major Eat streets of Indian Penisular and would cost 1500/-INR+ taxes at Hotel Citrus, The Leela Palace, Old Airport Road, Benguluru .
Food: 4/5 A good Royal trip around the Indian Streets.
